Salute Your Signature!

Cursive

Here Ye!  Hear Ye!  The Cursive Letters want us to...SALUTE OUR SIGNATURE!  It’s time!

SAY WHAT?

“Salute my signature?  So what?”…you might be saying.

Please don’t take your signature for granted.  It’s YOU…

There’s actually a science of graphology …”the analysis of the physical characteristics and patterns of handwriting claiming to identify the writer, indicating the psychological state at the time of writing, or evaluating personality characteristics.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphology

Wow!  Identifying our state of mind at the time we write something??  That’s impressive!  Your signature REALLY is YOU!

Honor its uniqueness!  Be proud of it!  Buff it up a bit so others can read it, if you have to.

SALUTE YOUR SIGNATURE!

VALUE IT!

A while back in time, if a person was illiterate, they just put an X on the paper to denote their signature.

With credit card scanning, we scribble our name to hastily complete the transaction.   Now, more and more, we don’t even have to “sign our name” when using credit to purchase.  All it requires is a scribble.

Regardless, we can’t loose the value of our signature.  Remember, it’s YOU!

John Hancock’s famous signature morphed into a popular expression.  Have you ever heard someone say:  “Put your ‘John Hancock’ (your signature) on this line?”

Arnold Palmer, famous golfer, was known to write his signature exactly the same way each time he autographed.  His cursive was distinct and legible. His signature was a part of him!

Let’s follow suit and use our signature more often.  Slow down and take pride when you write your name in cursive.   Remember, it’s YOU!

VALUE IT!!

CHILDREN & TEENS TOO!

The more I talk cursive around town, the more I see how kids know about and are eager to learn how to sign their name.  They want their signature too!

My high school buddy’s 4-year-old granddaughter knew exactly what a signature is.  “It’s when you SIGN YOUR NAME!” she shouted out!

Young elementary children know it too.  They want to know how to sign their name!

High school teens want to have their signatures!  The one sophomore I interviewed recently who knew cursive, was teaching her peers who didn’t, how to sign their name.  They were “squiggle” writing  …What??  They pretended to write cursive with their “squiggling” on the paper.  They had never been taught cursive!

Having a signature and knowing how to write it,  can depict your educational level, that is for sure.  I believe we do our young people an unhealthy injustice when we neglect teaching them how to write their signature!

CHILDREN AND TEENS WANT THEIR SIGNATURES!
